How to Have This Six Year Addiction End?

Question by Cristian: How to have this six year addiction end?
Hello everyone, this question goes for christians like me who I am seeking help from.
***

I am 18 and and a male. I became a christian , acepting Christ in the summer of 2007 through a cell group where ppl have bible teachings in their homes . Earlier that year, I had myself ending. up rubbing my body all over in the tub where I experienced my first time masturbating. When I began going to church, I was clue less not even knowing what the word sin meant. Eventually, the following year I found out that masturbation is a sin. Eventually porn became present as well. For many years, this addiction was there in my life, no matter how many times I prayed, and how I get upset seeing how I am still here. I sought help once in my church but they didn’t really helped me much and all they said was be busy.( What if I woke up at night and I had the urge?) I was a leader at church serving with hope that this sin would no longer would be in my life but it still is today :(. I realized doing so would only have me be a hipocrite living a double life so eventually that year, I resigned. I don’t know what to do and I believe that this addiction for so long has been preventing God to be more active in my life, holding Him back. Help me, what can I do??? I want this 6 year addiction to end out of my life.

Thanks

Regardless of who you’re after, whether it’s Christians like you or another group of people, no one can help you until you help yourself. Oh and stop coming off so shallow; religious people usually aren’t the brightest OR most ethical and are oftentimes far from being enlightened.
