The Study Drug Song (Original Song) – This song was offline for several months pending my matriculation to pharmacy school. I’m glad to feel comfortable putting it back on again. I realize that this isn’t an accurate portrayal of the side effects of any particular drug, but this is a music video, not a documentary. Sorry there hasn’t been a song in a while. This is last week’s song, but I wasn’t able to upload it because I have slow internet at home. I’m not bothering to upload the song from two weeks ago because it was about the holidays. This week’s song is still coming. Don’t be confused about the meaning of this song. I am very strongly against the use of performance-enhancing drugs. I wrote this song bring attention to an ever growing problem, not to promote college substance abuse. One particular study set the rate of performance-enhancing use of three particular prescription drugs at about 7% nationally among college students. However, John Hopkins University stated in 2002 that that number might actually be as high as 20%. The physical downsides to psycostimulant abuse are bad on their own, and include loss of sleep, inability to eat, nasty crashes, and increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
